Fisheries Community Animateur, Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC) - £23,000 per annum

Cornwall Rural Community Council is seeking a Fisheries Community Animateur to work with the Cornwall Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG), to bring about, develop and deliver grant funding that will meet the aims of FLAG strategy, and to project a positive image to the local and identified FLAG community.

Cornwall Rural Community Council (CRCC) is a charity that was founded in 1946. It is part of a network of 38 rural community councils across England, all sharing the aim of enhancing rural communities. The CRCC’s mission is ‘to enable Cornish communities to be vibrant, sustainable and inclusive’ and it runs a variety of projects and offers a range of services which provide information, advice and guidance to communities, individuals and the voluntary sector as a whole. One of these projects involves working with the Cornwall Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) to spend £2 million of funding on projects that will meet the aims of the FLAG strategy.

Objectives
• Assist the FLAG area/community to develop a suite of projects to the FLAG
• Stimulate innovation and interest amongst the FLAG areas to bring projects forward
• Ensure that proposed projects are at such a standard that they meet European Fisheries fund requirements
• Effectively monitor the budget
• Report to the FLAG on a timely basis progress and activity
• Effectively communicate to all stakeholders

Nature of Work
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the successful candidate will work closely with the coastal community of Cornwall and FLAG to identify and develop projects which meet community need and are deliverable within a one-year timeframe. The successful candidate will assist projects to a stage where they are able to access funding and will provide progress reports into the FLAG at timely intervals. The successful candidate will complete expressions of interest forms and write business plans and will generally promote FLAG and stimulate activity within the community.

Personal Skills
Essential Requirements:
• A degree in a related subject area
• Experience working within a community setting
• Project development/management experience
• Excellent office administration and IT skills
• Knowledge of funding streams, the fisheries industry and rural issues
• Self starting, flexible and able to meet deadlines
• Reliable, confident communicator, diplomatic with a positive attitude
• Full driving licence

Desirable Requirements:
• Innovative approach to problem solving
• Able to develop ideas into reality
• Experience of managing stakeholders
• An understanding of what an animateur is.

Duration
• This is an 18 month fixed term contract
• Expected start date is June/July 2012
