At the time the company was going through a period of growth and the administrative side of things needed developing. We were looking for a project to enable that growth and create a human resources role. We first met Nicky when she did some work for us as a student through her businesses degree. The work she did opened our eyes and that, along with her personality and ability, shaped the role.
The mentoring and training has really developed Nicky as a person, and allowed her to step into other roles - like looking after our quality management system. The development and implementation of the HR policies have been key as we've grown and taken on more employees. We've got new policies and procedures in place; it's made our lives a lot easier and saved the company a lot of money. We've gone from 5 to 25 employees and have the systems to double that number of personnel if we wanted to.
The project worked really well and the surprising benefit was Nicky's personal development. Her confidence and ability to manage has really increased. She has created herself a really important role within the company and enables us to focus on growth.
