West Pharmaceuticals are a global organisation that manufacture and supply the medical industry with some 80 million products such as stoppers, seals and syringe components.

West Pharmaceuticals Services Cornwall discovered they had a need to improve the management and leadership skills of their First Line Management and Supervisory team. They went through the process of evaluating and selecting the best training provider and Cornwall College Business came out on top.

With the help of the CCB Trainer and Business Development Advisor, they developed a programme tailored to West’s needs. 32 managers and supervisors were enrolled in the bespoke training programme each doing First Line Management NVQ3. The managers who partook in the training have improved their communication skills, problem solving abilities, level of professionalism and learned a lot about their personal leadership style.

Terry Dooley, Training Officer at West said: “Some of the Managers have degrees and were apprehensive about what they could gain from doing an NVQ. They have since approached me and told me they’ve learned an awful lot about themselves by doing the NVQ3. The programme was definitely a success. Most have now completed the programme and it’s onwards and upwards from here!”
