Gilbert & Goode

Case Study

Gilbert & Goode was established in 1972 and has since become one of the largest Cornish building contractors operating in the region. Management attribute this achievement to the support and development of their staff.
Gilbert & Goode has run its apprenticeship programme for many years and consistently has two to three Trowel Occupation apprentices on scheme at any one time.

The organisation has seen the benefit of bringing young staff through its apprenticeship programme particularly where their skilled craftsman have been able to pass on their experience, technical knowledge and quality of work.

Linda Wherry, Office Manager at Gilbert & Goode said: “We have a long history of offering apprenticeships. Former apprentices now form the core of our workforce and hold many key management positions. They are all part of what makes us a highly successful Cornish company. We recognise that our current and recently qualified apprentices are the future of our organisation and as such, we place a very high value on our partnership with Cornwall Business College and the excellent quality of their apprenticeship programme.”
