Terry Harris and Sons’ dedication to apprenticeship training was recognised at the Cornwall College Business Excellence in Business Training Awards 2010 when they were rewarded with the Apprenticeship Excellence Award.

Terry Harris and Sons, established in 1972, is a small family-run building firm based in Port Isaac.

The company’s well established apprenticeship scheme has proven invaluable. Apprentices have learned from the company’s experienced craftsmen and have had more formal training through Cornwall College. Terry Harris and Sons are committed to supporting and encouraging their apprentices. They see the programme as critical to ensuring they continue with such high quality craftsmanship.

Tony Wright from Cornwall College Business, who nominated Terry Harris and Sons, said: “In the last two years, Terry Harris and Sons have taken on three apprentices. The company has a real sense of pride for the high quality of work they produce. Their commitment to developing highly skilled craftsmen through the apprenticeship programme ensures this level of quality continues.”
