Primrose Valley Hotel

Primrose Valley Hotel is situated at Porthminster Beach in St Ives. Primrose Valley was the first hotel in Cornwall to win Green Accreditation with a Gold Award from Green Tourism Business Scheme. Manager Anna Pascoe enrolled onto the Sustainable Tourism Management degree level short course in the hopes of consolidating her knowledge of the sustainable approach to tourism and to help bring some fresh ideas to the operation at Primrose Valley Hotel.

Manager Anna Pascoe said: “The course was really useful for comparing what other businesses were doing to educate and manage their visitor and community impact. Primrose Valley Hotel will now begin to widen its visitor support and education initiatives using the ideas picked up from the course.”

The course gave Anna a better understanding of sustainability issues in global tourism and current trends in practice. The hotel has now carried out a sustainability review of all its suppliers and has switched to more ethical retailers where appropriate.
