Mylor Yacht Harbour offers a full complement of services afloat and ashore. General Manager, Celeste Gagnon enrolled onto the Sustainable Tourism Management degree level short course to further the company’s long standing commitment to sustainable operations.

Celeste Gagnon, General Manager of Mylor Yacht Harbour Ltd. said: “This course has enabled me to find ways to make our activities more sustainable. By putting the impacts of tourism in the context of global, national, and regional environmental initiatives, the sustainable tourism management course has given me an increased awareness of some of the possible effects of our activities and of those of our visitors.”

The course has enabled Celeste to gain an understanding of strategic planning for sustainable growth and the main costs and benefits from such growth. It has also helped Celeste apply issues in global tourism on a scale commensurate with the daily operations of the holiday apartments. An overview of current trends in practice and different aspects of the tourism industry including site planning and visitor management provided a very comprehensive foundation for understanding the issues involved in incorporating sustainable tourism management on a local level.
