Winter Rule

Winter Rule is the largest chartered accountancy and business advisory service in Cornwall. They have successfully run an Apprenticeship Scheme delivered by Cornwall College Business for a number of years.

Kimberley Stephenson began her career at Winter Rule, as a receptionist. After a few years working in that role, Kimberley decided she wanted a career change. After talking to the partners of the company, they recommended she work towards completing her AAT Level 2 through Cornwall College Business’ Apprenticeship scheme. The firm had put a number of other apprentices through the scheme over the years and saw the value to the organisation and individuals. As a trainee Accountant, Kimberley progressed up through the levels towards achieving her qualification while getting paid!

Kimberley elaborates: “The AAT qualification gives me the option to consider chartered or certified qualifications.  I can even go on to obtain a degree in accountancy through Cornwall College.  Lots of people have done this and eventually have gone on to be managers.  On the whole the firm that I work for are very supportive of further training and looks at each person on an individual basis.”
