Summary

A fire can have a devistating effect on an organisation. 77% of businesses experiencing a major fire never fully recover. The updated duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 place the responsibility on employers and those in control of premises to ensure that they assess fire risks and take steps to minimise those risks and safeguard people in the event of a fire. The NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate is designed to equip holders to help their organisations to meet those legal duties.

Who is this course for?

This course is for people who have fire safety responsibilities at work, particularly those tasked with carrying out fire risk assessments and preventing loss of life and property.

Entry requirements

To enrol on this course candidates will already have gained a level 2 (or equivalent) award in health and safety.

Course overview

This course covers the main legal requirements for safety in the UK as stated in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, principles of fire and explosion, causes and prevention of fires, fire protection in buildings and ensuring the safety of people in the event of a fire. Crucially the practical element of the course also ensures that participants can carry out unaided a fire risk assessment and prepare a recommendations report for management.

It is classroom based and involves tutor lead discussions and presentations, group work involving research and feedback, plus individual learning.

You will receive a comprehensive course book which covers the whole syllabus, to aid group work and private study.

Candidates are assessed on completion of the course on dates set nationally by NEBOSH, successful candidates will be awarded with a unit certificate, and a certificate parchment is issued on successful completion of all units including NGC1 of the NEBOSH General Certificate.
