Course Delivery - This course is 1 evening a week for 12 months.

Additional Information - You will be required to pay CIM membership of £140; as well as two assessments and two exams of £75 each direct to the CIM. See www.cim.co.uk for more information.

Who is this course for?

This course is for individuals in a junior marketing position or for those who aspire to a career in marketing. It is also a great course for people who work on the peripheries of marketing in a support role or for those in a small business where marketing is a part of their role.

Entry requirements

You must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor Degree in any subject
  • Age 19 or over with a minimum of two years full time work experience in Marketing
  • CIM Introductory Certificate in Marketing

Course overview

You will study four modules:

  • Marketing Essentials introduces individuals to the importance of the marketing planning process and the role of marketing across the organisation.
  • Assessing the Marketing Environment addresses the key characteristics of the marketing environment and assesses the impact of market forces that are uncontrollable and how an organisation responds to them.
  • Marketing Information and Research explores different research methodologies and encourages consideration of complementary approaches to collecting a range of market and customer information.
  • Stakeholder Marketing considers how to manage stakeholder relationships effectively, in terms of utilising a marketing mix that influences and satisfies stakeholder needs in line with the organisation's business and marketing objectives.

Study is via a mixture of private study and weekly sessions. There are 4 units, 2 assessed by assignments and 2 by exams externally set by the CIM which may be taken each March, June and December at the college. This is a structured course which aims to accommodate the personal circumstances and varied job roles of individuals.

Learning support on an individual basis is provided.

The course could take between 12 and 15 months to complete.
