Who is this course for?

This course is especially for beginners and those who are new to web design. It is also for business owners, managers and designers to develop a basic understanding of web design and the terminology used in the industry.

You will develop basic skills and techniques needed to produce interactive web pages and gain knowledge of the tools required to build successful websites. You will also gain an understanding of HTML and CSS. During the course you will use industry standard software, CS4 Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

Course overview

This course covers:

  • Introduction to the history and development of the Internet and the World Wide Web
  • Using basic Dreamweaver and Photoshop skills and techniques
  • Introduction to hypertext mark-up language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Introduction to page layout and formatting using HTML and CSS
  • Introduction to search engines and search engine optimisation
  • How to create imagery and optimise it for the web.

The course will be delivered through practical sessions. Delegates will have access to online support materials, and a designated tutor for learning support. Delegates will have to undertake an assignment to successfully pass this course.
