Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who wishes to develop skills to understand design for target audiences, advanced image making techniques, how to build in search engine optimisation and how to build an accessible and user friendly website.

You will develop skills to analyse a range of tools and techniques to build client-side shopping carts and use e-commerce and database applications to promote your range of business services/products.

Entry requirements

A general understanding of HTML is essential for this course.

Course overview

The course will cover:

• Usability and accessibility
• Design for target audiences, design that inspires confidence in a site’s security and how to build an accessible and user friendly site
• How to build search engine optimisation into your site
• Introduction/overview into how shopping cart software functions, in relation to static mark-up languages
• Introduction to basic mark-up language using Textpad
• Overview of server technologies
• Software installation and configuration
• Integration of front end design and ‘back end’ scripts
• Introduction to cart admin functions - catalogue content and functions and product listings

The course is delivered through lectures, practical workshops and on-line learning. Successful completion of this course will require the delegate to show an understanding of e-commerce concepts, systems development tools and techniques to produce a database driven website.
