Who is this course for?

This qualification is designed for new entrants and/or those already working in the food industry or its supply chain, and suitable at all levels from Operator to Management.

The flexible choice of units will allow learners to select those that are most relevant to their own employment, learning and progression requirements. It also reflects the wide variety of jobs which people do in different types of companies in the food industry. There is also the opportunity to develop knowledge in food technology.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but you must be employed within the food industry. A Level 2 Certificate is desirable, while it is expected that a genuine interest is held in supporting discussions with our team of experts to ensure that the principles are being implemented and that change is happening.

Course overview

During this course, you will complete 27 credits which are made up from units drawn from 2 groups:

  • Production, Processing, Sales and Support - this group includes occupational skills and knowledge units which cover production control, processing, sales, service and support operations within the food and drink industry
  • Food Operations – this group of knowledge units covers generic competencies including food safety, working with others and quality.

  • Develop assessment skills to ensure learning is implemented
  • Reinforce key behaviours
  • Develop competence in all aspects of the food industry
  • Develop existing skills and knowledge of those already
  • Competent in food processing activities
  • Support multi-skilling activities or increasing productivity
  • Can support development into a specialist area such as quality assurance or laboratory operations
  • Establish competence and credibility for First Line Managers
  • Be a key part of your business’ future profitability.

Assessment is through observations, discussions, questioning sessions and through the construction of a portfolio of evidence.
