With a Level 2 Diploma, you can start working towards the nationally recognised Level 3 Diploma by enrolling the advanced apprenticeship.
Upon successful completion of both the level 2 and level 3, you may progress to a more senior position e.g. social care worker, care home manager or other supervisory care positions
In the future, you may be interested in studying further and enrol in the FdA Health and Community Studies, FdSc Healthcare and Practice or FdSc Working with Older Persons followed by a Bsc (Hons) Health and Social care. Alternatively, you could enrol in nursing or midwifery.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in Health and Social Care.
You must have good interpersonal skills, respect for people who use the service, good verbal and non verbal communication skills and a suitable level of fitness to perform some aspects of the job.

There are no required qualifications to enrol in this apprenticeship; however you need to be employed with in the health and social care sector and be aged 16 and over.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne or Saltash campus 1 day per week for 1 year, while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.
During this apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to select your pathway e.g. health care or social care, and the units to suit your job e.g. infection control, dementia awareness, supporting people with learning disabilities, support for mobility, continence and hygiene care.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.
