Who is this course for?
This course is for people who are working or volunteering within the Children and young peoples workforce. You will be required to work with levels of unsupervised responsibility or be working towards gaining increasing levels of responsibility without direct supervision.
Entry requirements
Applicants need to be working or volunteering within the children and young peoples workforce on either a paid or voluntary basis with levels of unsupervised responsibility. Literacy and numeracy skills of a good standard are required, preferably accredited at level 2 and often prior attainment at level 2 in child care is needed.
Course overview
Your course includes weekly attendance at college, regular assessments both of written work and observations within your work setting. The level 3 Diploma is made up of core/mandatory and optional units. Core units include: Child Development, Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Communication, Equality and diversity, Personal Development, Developing Relationships and Working Together. Optional Units could include for example: Working with babies and young children, Speech and Language, Creativity and Creative Learning, Support for children with Disability and more.
What's next?
After successfully completing the level 3 Diploma in the Children and Young Peoples Workforce you can seek employment within the children and young peoples workforce at a supervisory level. For those with sufficient industry experience there is the opportunity to progress onto the level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Early years or a Foundation Degree.
