Completing the advanced apprenticeship in Professional Cookery will give the skills to move up in the organisation you work for! You can choose from Professional Cookery or Patisserie and Confectionary. This is a follow on course from the Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship.
An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a new qualification while staying in your current job and earning money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!
Over 90% of our Hospitality and Catering apprentices are offered permanent positions by their employers once they have completed their apprenticeship.
With a Diploma in Professional Cookery, you could progress to a sous chef, head chef or a management position.
In the future, you may be interested in studying further and enrol in a People Management Apprenticeship, FdA Event Management, FdSc Food Studies or FdA Hospitality Management at Cornwall College. Thereafter you could go onto to a BSc (Hons) or BA (Hons) through Cornwall College or University of Plymouth.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in Professional Cookery. You must enjoy working within the hospitality industry and enjoy working with food.
This course supports those working in a variety of roles within the hospitality industry e.g. pastry chef, chef, kitchen assistant or team member.
This is a follow on course from the Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship.
To enrol in this advanced apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (Maths and English preferred) and be employed within a suitable position in the hospitality industry.
You must have completed a Level 2 Hospitality Apprenticeship (Professional Cookery) or have the relevant experience.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne campus 1 day a week for 1 year.
During this apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to select a pathway to suit to your job e.g. Patisserie and Confectionary or Professional Cookery.
During the Patisserie and Confectionary Apprenticeship, you will produce petit fours, pastry products, fermented dough, batter products, desserts, biscuits, cakes and decorative items. You will use your creative skills while working with specialist ingredients. This apprenticeship supports those working as a pastry chef.
During the Professional Cookery Apprenticeship, you will prepare, cook and finish fish, meat, poultry and vegetable dishes. You will acquire thorough knowledge and skills to prepare and cook food from scratch.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will receive support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.
