This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised advanced Diploma in Retail. The skills acquired in this apprenticeship are transferable to any job or industry, so it’s a good stepping stone in your career and may help you progress to a more senior position.
This is a follow on course from the Level 2 Retail Diploma, and supports a wide variety of job roles in any industry e.g. senior sales assistants, craft experts (bakery), style advisors (personal shoppers, retail consultants, stylist), visual merchandise supervisor, floor manager and store manager.
To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C (ideally in English and Maths) and be employed in a suitable supervisory position. You must have completed the Level 2 Retail Apprenticeship or have the relevant experience.

This apprenticeship is work based, so you will receive training on the job for 1 year.
During this apprenticeship, you will build onto your Level 2 Certificate and have the opportunity to select units to suit your job role and industry. You will develop greater skills in sales and management, and may be responsible for staff and managing the shop you work in. This course can be tailored to your industry, so you could work in a bakery, fish shop, butchery, greengrocer, pharmacy or clothing store.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.
