Nail Services Apprenticeship Level 2

If you want to become a qualified nail technician, enjoy working in the beauty industry and working with clients, this is a good course for you to start your career.

An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!

Upon successful completion, you will be a qualified junior nail technician and assist senior technicians in performing a number of procedures.  You could work in a variety of locations including salons, spas, resorts or hotels. Thereafter you may find yourself progressing to a more senior position and can start working towards the Advanced Level 3 Nail Services Diploma.

With a Level 3 Diploma, you become a qualified nail technician and could work as a photographic nail artist or start your own business.

Who is this course for?

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job to become a qualified nail technician.

You must enjoy working in the beauty industry and on a one to one basis with clients. You will need good hand to eye coordination to carry out your work, as well as good customer service skills as you will be working with clients all day. This apprenticeship supports those working in a trainee nail technician position.

Entry requirements

To enrol in the apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C and be employed as a trainee nail technician.

Course overview

You will attend lectures at the St Austell campus 1 day per week for 1 year, while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.

During this apprenticeship you will assist senior nail technicians in performing manicures, pedicures, natural nail wraps, hand and nail treatments, nail extensions and basic nail art techniques.

You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the following qualification:

  • NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Nail Services

What's next?

With a Level 2 Diploma, you will be a qualified junior nail technician where you will assist senior technicians in performing a number of procedures.  You could work in a variety of locations including salons, spas, resorts or hotels. Thereafter you may find yourself progressing to a more senior position and can start working towards the Advanced Level 3 Nail Services Diploma.

Upon successful completion of the Level 3 Diploma, you become a qualified nail technician and could work as a photographic nail artist or start your own business.

In the future, you may be interested in continuing your apprenticeship studies through Cornwall College Business and enrol in a team leading, people management, customer service or business administration apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may be interested in the full time spa therapy course.

There are no apprenticeship course fees charged for anyone between the ages of 16 and 18.  For those aged 19 and over, fees do apply.
