An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!
Over 75% of our electro technical apprentices are offered permanent positions by their employers once they have completed their apprenticeship.
Once qualified, you could work as an installation electrician, maintenance electrician or an electro technical panel builder. You may find yourself working for a large employer and progress to managing projects or clients; or start your own business.
In the future, you may be interested in completing further qualifications e.g. 2391 Test and Inspection, 17th Edition on regulations, Photovoltaic systems, PAT Inspection or Introduction to Carbon Management. Thereafter you could progress to an FdSc Carbon Management or FdSc Renewable Energy Technologies, and work on environmentally friendly systems or innovation projects.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to become a fully qualified electrician while training on the job.
You must have good practical skills, be able to follow technical drawings and work carefully and methodically. Due to the nature of the work, you must be willing to work in confined spaces and have a head for heights. This course supports those working as a trainee electrician.
To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C (preferably English, Maths and IT) and be employed within a suitable position.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne, St Austell or Saltash campus for 42 months. During the first 3 years, you will attend lectures 1 day per week, assessment in the workplace.
During this apprenticeship you work under the direction of a qualified electrician. You will learn how to diagnose and correct electrical faults; and install and connect wiring systems, wiring enclosures and equipment. You will be required to complete 2 technical certificates:
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.
