Accountancy is a vibrant and progressive profession with access into all aspects of business. The ACCA qualification offers the opportunity to work in a diverse range of business sectors, from the public to private sector, practising in accounting firms or pursuing a career in business.
Accountancy qualifications are a passport to a rewarding career and ACCA leads to an international transferable qualification. ACCA Stage 2 Fundamentals are for anyone working towards a highly regarded, internationally recognised, professional accountancy qualification.
Students should hold either passes or exemptions for papers F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and F6. There are various entry points on to ACCA depending upon previous academic qualifications. For information regarding entry routes and exemptions please visit the ACCA website www.accaglobal.com/join/acca/entry. ACCA will then assess all students on a case-by-case basis. Students study three papers: F7 Financial Reporting, F8 Audit and Assurance and F9 Financial Management.
Paper F7 develops knowledge and skills in understanding and applying accounting standards and the theoretical framework in the preparation of financial statements of entities, including groups, and how to analyse and interpret those financial statements.
Paper F8 develops the knowledge and skills in the process of carrying out assurance engagement and its application in the context of the professional regulatory framework.
Paper F9 develops the knowledge and skills expected of a financial manager, specifically relating to issues affecting investment, financing and dividend policy decisions.
Each of these papers is assessed by a three hour examination.
The programme of study embraces formal lectures, independent study, practise exercises, past exam papers, informal group discussion, informal chats with tutors and structured revision sessions.
Successful students can progress onto the ACCA Stage 3 and 4 Professional levels, culminating in full membership (subject to ACCA experience requirements). Past students work across all the major sectors: Private firms of accounting practitioners, the NHS, Local Government, and SMEs.
Each paper is offered separately and charged on a per paper basis which allows students to take individual papers if required.
