Cornwall College Business (CCB) is hosting a free event to help businesses see how they can benefit from becoming more energy efficient.
The “Get your head around energy efficiency” Event, hosted at The Business Space in Truro on Thursday 26th April, will feature guest speakers who have embraced carbon management in their workplace. They will be highlighting where their businesses have seen advantages from improving their resource efficiency. Guest speakers include Nigel Hawke from TJ International and Amanda Barlow from the Budock Vean Hotel.
The event also includes two 30 minute workshops; ‘Carbon calculator to identify potential savings’ and ‘Influencing behaviour change’; so that business managers, leaders and owners can get their heads around energy efficiency and walk away with an action plan.
“It would seem that some businesses are either put off by the idea of Carbon Management training or that they are not too sure what it involves,” said Justin Olosunde, Curriculum Development Lead, Cornwall College. “We decided to hold this event so businesses can start to understand the real concept of how they can reduce costs by lowering energy consumption and how CCB’s training and consultancy can support this”.
TJ International is a leading manufacturer of scientific, academic and technical books based in Padstow. The company has seen huge benefits from putting together an environment committee and by putting staff on environmental training.
Nigel Hawke, Training and Development Manager, TJ International said: “At TJ international we have developed our staff so that everyone is more environmentally aware, this contributes to making our objectives to reduce waste and energy consumption more achievable.”
