"Cornwall College Business have helped us find new ways to implement training for our staff and the training programme they tailored for us has taken our managers to the next level."
Mark Hewitt, Development Manager, Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service
A 15 year partnership between Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service (FRS) and Cornwall College Business (CCB) has provided numerous members of staff with training in Health & Safety, and Leadership & Management.
The courses were carried out through one-to-one ‘professional discussion’ sessions with CCB tutors and mentors, which could be fitted around the highly demanding, challenging and unpredictable environment of the Fire Service.
Watch Manager Terry O’Rourke, whose FRS career spans 21 years, completed the Health & Safety Certificate. He said: “The course was very beneficial to my work. The trainers deserve praise for their professional delivery as well as of their extensive health & safety knowledge along with their industry experience.”
Mark Hewitt, Development Manager for Cornwall FRS, said: “Training and development is critical to Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service and the community we serve. It helps us face challenges and seize opportunities. We can ensure we have the right people with the right skills to deal safely, effectively and efficiently with any situation that we may face. CCB has helped us find new ways to implement training for our staff and the training programme they tailored for us has taken our managers to the next level.”
