This apprenticeship is for people who want to become a qualified Signmaker.
An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!
Upon successful completion, you are semi skilled and qualified to work as a signmakers assistant. Thereafter, you can start working towards the nationally recognised Level 3 Signmaking Diploma, by completing the advanced apprenticeship.
In the future, you could work as a quality control technician, signmaker, fabricator/fitter, sign designer or a sign installation maintenance engineer. Alternatively, you could start your own signmaking business or be involved in teaching.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job to become qualified in signmaking. It supports a number of trainee job positions e.g. signmaker, sign installer, quality technician and manufacturing technician.
You must have good hand skills, high attention to detail and be able to follow technical drawings.
To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C and be employed within a suitable position. Â

This apprenticeship is work based, so you will receive on the job training for 1 year.
You will learn how to design signs, prepare surfaces, cut out and build plastics into letters and logos, use digital technologies and install signs.
You will use a range of skills e.g. graphic design and electrical engineering, and a variety of materials e.g. perspex, vinyl, metal and glass.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.
