Majority of people in the UK use IT in their jobs, but many struggle with general computing skills and programs. The IT Application Specialist apprenticeship is the solution, and will give you confidence in using a computer and various programs. To enrol in this course, you can work in any industry and in a variety of job roles e.g. PA, Office Support, Helpdesk Support, Multimedia (Design and Publishing), Sales and Marketing, Accounts or Teaching.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in IT. It is an introduction course, and will give you confidence in using a computer and various programs. This course supports those working in a variety of job roles e.g. office support, helpdesk support, multimedia (design and publishing), sales and marketing, accounts or teaching.
To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C and be employed in a suitable position.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne or St Austell campus for 20 days across the year.
During the apprenticeship, you will learn the basics of operating a computer. You will have the opportunity to select units to suit your job role and industry e.g. email, word processing, spreadsheets, database, digital imaging, security software, trouble shooting, IT maintenance or specialist software.
This apprenticeship is designed to allow candidates to achieve the Microsoft Office Master status.
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the following qualification:
With a Level 2 Apprenticeship, you have the foundation to progress in any direction you choose. In the future, you may be interested in continuing your apprenticeship studies through Cornwall College Business and enrol in the customer service, business administration, team leading or travel and tourism apprenticeship. Alternatively, you may prefer to develop your IT skills and enrol in further software qualifications e.g. programming, network design or network fundamentals.

There are no apprenticeship course fees charged for anyone between the ages of 16 and 18. For those aged 19 and over, fees do apply.
