With a Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing, you become a qualified junior stylist and can work in salons or hotels. In the future, you may be interested in studying further and enrol on the Level 3 Hairdressing Apprenticeship, where you will cover the more advanced colour and cutting techniques.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in Hairdressing. You must enjoy working within a salon environment and enjoy working on a one to one basis with clients.
To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, ideally have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C and be employed within a salon environment. You must have a suitable level of fitness to perform some aspects of the job, as you will be on your feet most of the day.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne, St Austell and Saltash campus 1 day per week for 2 years, while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.
During this apprenticeship you will work as a salon junior booking appointments and performing shampooing, conditioning, drying, styling and colouring of hair. You will also be involved in hair and skin testing and the principles of hair colour selection for clients.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.

Thereafter, you could progress to a Level 4 Salon Management Apprenticeship, a cutting course in London or branch out and enrol in the Barbering Apprenticeship at Cornwall College Business.
