Furniture Making Apprenticeship Level 2

Summary

“Without the furniture industry, the world would be an empty and uncomfortable place; there’ll always be a need for skilled people to design, make and install furniture for our homes, offices and public areas. The job takes creativity, plus knowledge of machinery and production techniques.” – National Apprenticeship Service

This apprenticeship is for people who want to become qualified in furniture making, while laying the foundation for a successful career in the furniture industry.

An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!

Over 90% of our construction apprentices are offered permanent positions by their employers once they have completed their apprenticeship.

You may find yourself following in the footsteps of a former furniture making apprentice, Matt Coutts whose hand crafted chair was displayed at “The Millinery Works 21st Century Furniture” exhibition and at the London Gallery.

Upon successful completion of this level 2 apprenticeship, you can start working towards the nationally recognised Level 3 Furniture Making Diploma by enrolling in the advanced apprenticeship. Thereafter, you could work as a restorer, hand crafted furniture maker, french polisher, furniture development technician, senior furniture designer, teacher or start your own business.

In the future, you may be interested in continuing your apprenticeship studies through Cornwall College Business and enrol in the team leading, people management, level 4 site supervision, wood machining or carpentry and joinery apprenticeship. Alternatively, the full time FdA Creative Practice course may interest you, where you can specialise in furniture design.
