Administrators provide office support and cover a variety of roles including executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants and data entry clerks.  If you are efficient, enjoy organising people and resources, and want to progress in your career, this apprenticeship is a great way to get you started!

Over 90% of our business administration apprentices are offered permanent positions by their employers once they have completed their apprenticeship. An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay. With a Level 2 Business Administration Certificate, you are qualified to a junior level and may find yourself progressing in your company to a more senior position with more responsibility.

Who is this course for?

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in Business Administration.

If you are efficient and enjoy organising people and resources, this is a great apprenticeship for you to start your career. This apprenticeship supports a variety of administration job roles in any industry e.g. executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors.

Entry requirements

To enrol in this apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over, have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C (ideally in English and Maths) and be employed in an administrative role.

Course overview

You will attend lectures at the Camborne, St Austell or Saltash campus 1 day per week for 25-30 weeks (depending on previous qualifications), while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.

During this apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to select a variety of units to suit your job role and industry e.g. human resources, project management, documentation production, events and management, communications, customer service, business resources, innovation and change, and IT.

You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration
  • Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration

What's next?

With a Level 2 Business Administration Certificate, you are qualified to a junior level and may find yourself progressing in your company to a more senior position with more responsibility. Thereafter you can start working towards the Level 3 Business Administration Certificate, by enrolling the advanced apprenticeship.

Completing both the Level 2 and Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeships will help you progress in your career through senior administration to management.

In the future, you may be interested in continuing your studies through Cornwall College Business and enrol in the customer service, team leading, people management or leader management apprenticeships. Thereafter, you may wish to study further and complete an FdA Business or FdA E-business Management, followed by a BA (Hons) Business Enterprise through Cornwall College.

There are no apprenticeship course fees charged for anyone between the ages of 16 and 18.  For those aged 19 and over, fees do apply.
