This Advanced Apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and progress from a Level 2 to a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Barbering. You must enjoy working within a salon environment and enjoy working on a one to one basis with clients.
To enrol in this advanced apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 and over and have a minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade C. You must be employed within a salon environment and have a suitable level of fitness to perform some aspects of the job, as you will be on your feet most of the day.
You will need to have completed the Level 2 Barbering Apprenticeship or have the relevant experience.

You will attend lectures at the St Austell or Camborne campus one day per week for one year, while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.
During this apprenticeship you will build onto your Level 2 Diploma and perform creative hair cutting and design and creation of a range of facial hair shapes. You will also be involved in hairdressing consultation services and promoting services or products to clients.
You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving regular support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.

With a Level 3 Diploma in Barbering, you could progress to management level, own your own barber shop or work on film sets.
In the future, you may be interested in studying further and enrol on a cutting course in London, a Level 4 Salon Management Apprenticeship or branch out and enrol in the Hairdressing Apprenticeship at Cornwall College Business.

There are no apprenticeship course fees charged for anyone between the ages of 16 and 18. For those aged 19 and over, fees do apply.
