This is a follow on course from the AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship. During this course, you will learn finance team leader skills e.g. financial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks, management skills and specialist learning areas.
An apprenticeship is a great way to gain a qualification and earn real money, while working in your current job. At the end of the course, you will have a nationally recognised qualification and no debts to pay!

Running a business involves a lot of financial activities, from expenses and bills to taxes and payroll. Upon successful completion, you could progress to a full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians and work as an Accounts Clerk, Credit Control Assistant, Finance Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk in any business or industry e.g. large public sector, small companies, not for profit companies or clubs.
Thereafter you could complete a professional accounting qualification with a chartered body such as CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW. Alternatively, you may wish to enrol in a management apprenticeship at Cornwall College Business or a full time business related course at Cornwall College.

This apprenticeship is designed for people who want to train on the job and gain a nationally recognised qualification in accounting.
You must enjoy working in an office environment and be good with numbers. This is a follow on course from the AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship, and supports those working in a trainee accounting position.
To enrol in the AAT Level 4 Accounting Diploma, you need to be aged 16 and over, have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (ideally in English and Maths) and be employed in an accounting position. You must have completed an AAT Level 3 Apprenticeship or have the relevant experience.

You will attend lectures at the Camborne, St Austell or Saltash campus 1 day per week for 35 weeks, while the remainder of the week is spent in the workplace.

You will put together a portfolio of evidence to show that you are competent at the tasks you do every day, while receiving support from experienced Cornwall College tutors.

With a Diploma in Accounting, you could work as an Accounts Clerk, Credit Control Assistant, Finance Assistant or Purchase Ledger Clerk in any type of business or industry e.g. large public sector, small companies, not for profit companies or clubs.
You could progress to a full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians and then complete an accounting qualification with a chartered body:
Some chartered bodies will exempt you form certain parts of the syllabus, having covered these during your apprenticeship.
Alternatively, you may wish to enrol in a management apprenticeship at Cornwall College Business e.g. Leader Management; or a full time business related course at Cornwall College e.g. FdA Business, BA (Hons) Business Enterprise, BA (Hons) Business Administration. With a Business Degree, you could progress in any direction you choose e.g. financial services, insurance, economics, marketing or business.
