AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship

Elizabeth Hosken is an Accounts Clerk for Clark Jenner Angove in Truro and will complete her Level 4 AAT apprenticeship through Cornwall College Business in December.

After completing her A Levels many of Elizabeth's friends went to university, but she decided that an apprenticeship was the best route for her to develop her chosen career.

Her job includes organising payroll, VAT returns, Accounts and Tax Returns for small and medium sized companies, bookkeeping, client liaison and the training of other apprentices.

Elizabeth said: "The AAT apprenticeship has allowed me to take on more and more work within the practice and I now cover many more areas within the business. The apprenticeship was by far the best route to give me practical skills that employers want."

Elizabeth also uses her accountancy skills outside of work to help run her local Young Farmer's group who raise thousands of pounds for charity each year. As the secretary of the club, her finance skills e.g. prioritising & cash flow that she has leant through her apprenticeship and at work have been invaluable.

Elizabeth's hard work and commitment to her apprenticeship has seen her win a the National Apprenticeship Service's Apprentice of the Year in 2012.
