Zack Gardener

Case Study

Sign Making

Shortly after starting college, Zack left for a promising job opportunity as a Sign Maker at Jag Signs Ltd. He was working in the industry already for four years when he and his employer thought it would be beneficial for him to get some qualifications under his belt so he signed up for the Sign Making Apprenticeship through Cornwall College Business.

The things he learned at college were very relevant to his job role. Zack said: “The course covers a wide variety of areas within the industry from surveying through manufacturing and fitting.

“I now have a better understanding of the health and safety aspects of the job as well as production methods.”

Zack says that he really enjoys the job, especially the design work: “You design something then forget all about it and then a few months later you are walking down the high street and randomly stumble upon the graphics you designed!”

Zack aspires to continue gaining qualifications and wants to do an NVQ in Leadership and then an NVQ in Management.
