Trowel Occupations
Matthew Lean was 16 when he left Fowey School to start a full-time trowel occupation course at Cornwall College. He successfully completed his Foundation Craft Award during which time he managed to get some work experience with local builder Glen Rogers & Sons. They were so impressed with him that they offered to take him on as an apprentice.
The support Matt received from Glen Rogers and Cornwall College enabled him to fulfil his ambition by successfully completing both an NVQ2 then NVQ3 in Trowel Occupations. “I really enjoy being a builder and now that I have gained some real qualifications, I am looking to develop my management skills.”
Glen Rogers said: “We took Matt on and were really pleased with his attitude and willingness to learn, we were keen to support him through his apprenticeship and feel we have been well rewarded with the investment we have put in him.”
