Marie Bowyer

Case Study

Customer Service

Marie is hairdresser in a small salon in Launceston called Headlines and Theresa Knight. She completed the Hair/Beauty Level 1 whilst still at school, and then progressed onto the Level 2 Hair Apprenticeship through Cornwall College Business in Saltash.

Before moving on to Level 3 in Hairdressing, it was decided that Marie would really benefit from a year in the Customer Service apprenticeship programme. This allowed her to gain more experience and confidence in dealing with clients.

Marie said: “The Customer Service courses were very relevant to my job. Through the experience and reflection, I feel more confident in my role. It gave me practical on-the-job skills and taught me to think about the job in a different way.”

Kirstie Stidwell, Liaison Officer for CCB said: “The change in Marie has been amazing. She engages with clients in a more relaxed manner, she feels happier on the phone and is generally a more confident individual all round.”

Next Marie would like to progress on to a ‘customer fronting’ role and do the NVQ3 Hairdressing.
