The Penventon Hotel employs a number of apprentices as part of the chef’s team where they can receive daily one-on-one guidance and training from a team of experienced chefs.
Kylie Clemence is one of their successful apprentices who has become a valuable member of the Penventon Hotel team. Kylie has a zest for knowledge and a willingness to learn. She adapted well to her role as a young Patissier (Pastry Chef) and has certainly made the department her own. Kylie said: “I enjoy this position because I like using my creativity and trying new things every day.”
Due to the rapid rate of her development within the hotel, the decision was made to bring in advanced tutoring from one of the country’s top Patissiers to develop Kylie’s skills.
Recently, the college secured funding to provide 10 students with the opportunity to spend 2 weeks in France working and learning in a restaurant. Kylie was lucky enough to be chosen for this trip and is looking forward to it.
Kylie is planning to continue on a higher educational path to become an Environmental Health Officer.
