Austin Gossmeyer, 19, has secured an IT apprenticeship through Cornwall College Business at Liskeard School. Austin was a former pupil at Liskeard School. 

Austin describes his role: “I provide support to teaching staff, and also assistance to students who forget their computer passwords. At college we learned about server management, workstation maintenance and repair and also network design and installation.

“I’m now working towards an NVQ3 and have completed my Microsoft exams.

“If anyone is thinking of doing an apprenticeship I would recommend it. Apprenticeships are a good way of getting valuable work experience which will hopefully help improve job prospects.”
