Andrew Phillips is currently doing a Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship. He is working at Volunteer Cornwall as an Administrative Assistant for the Operations & Contracts team. Volunteer Cornwall works with non-profit organisations and the public to match people into the right voluntary placements. Andrew was using their services as a volunteer himself when he learned about the opportunity to do a Business Administration Apprenticeship there.
Prior to college, Andrew was home educated. Andrew said: “It was nice to get back into the mainstream and learn while making money!”
As an Administrative Assistant, he processes paperwork and makes sure that everything is set up for the volunteer’s benefit claims as well as the finance claims for Volunteer Cornwall. His role is very important and he works towards strict deadlines. Andrew explains: “This position has helped me develop skills I need for the workplace, like time management. I’ve also learned a lot about employer and employee rights through the Business Administration course.”
