Case Study

With a workforce of 12 people Glen Rogers & Sons is a construction company that has been in the business for over 15 years. More recently they were approached by Cornwall College Business to see if they would be interested in taking on a young person for some work experience. “We took Matt on and were really pleased with his attitude and willingness to learn, we were keen to support him through his apprenticeship and feel we have been well rewarded with the investment we have put in him.”

The support Matthew received from Glen Rogers and Cornwall College Business enabled him to fulfil his ambition by successfully completing both an NVQ2 then NVQ3 in Trowel Occupations. “I really enjoy being a builder and now that I have gained some real qualifications I am looking to develop my management skills.”

Glen Rogers has maintained his commitment to apprenticeship training, to date he has had six learners successfully achieve NVQs. “As far as we are concerned the apprentices we have taken on have given us the edge in what is a challenging and competitive industry, we will continue our close association with Cornwall College Business and are keen to pass on our experience into developing tomorrow’s builders.”
