Cornwall College Business is currently the largest provider of apprenticeships in Devon and Cornwall, with over 1,700 apprentices in training. The College’s performance is consistently higher than the national average positioning us as one of the top providers in the country. With over 42 vocational areas ranging from Hairdressing to Engineering, the College works with small to medium organisations through to being the main provider of apprentices for some of Cornwall’s largest businesses.

Apprenticeship programme details
The Apprenticeship programme is for people aged 16+. Initially, an in-depth assessment is completed to ensure a good match between the potential apprentice and the company's needs. This will identify areas where the candidate is particularly strong and allows us to target priority areas for training.

Typically, the apprentice comes in to College for training one day per week. For some occupational areas, block release may be more appropriate. A specific programme of learning will be agreed with the employer and apprentice prior to their start. Your commitment is to pay the apprentice the minimum apprenticeship allowance for their work and to ensure there is a legal contract of employment.

You will receive on-going support from one of our team of Liaison Officers to ensure that any queries are promptly dealt with and that any paperwork required is kept to an absolute minimum. The Liaison Officer will ensure you are happy with your apprentice and that they are getting the most from the experience as well.

You can enrol an existing employee in the programme to improve their skills or you can build up your workforce by recruiting a new employee as an apprentice and we can assist you with that.
